Only in Seattle

I really love this city.  In fact, I found love in this city so that is fitting.  Right underneath this Space Needle.  It always feels good to be back.
Pretty

Everyone should keep one of these on hand.  It's completely normal to have this in your house.  In Seattle.

The first apple I have ever picked off of a tree.  Apples are my favorite fruit and today I plucked two of them off trees during our wilderness walk.  Only in Seattle.

This is the restaurant that Beth has worked at on and off for the last 10 years.  She made me eat frogs legs their once.  I told her it was not going to happen this time.  It is absolutely beautiful and looks over the water.  Oddly enough, Beth has never ventured across the street in these past 10 years.  Today was a milestone and she got to see what exactly is across the street.  Whenever I meet someone from Seattle, and mention this place, they know and love it.  A West Side fixture.

Have a Ducky Summer!

This is a neighborhood community building on the West Side.  We passed it on our way walk to the pool. Apparently, there is an artist who decorates this space (interactively) for every season/holiday.  Ex. - Bubble machine, Bongo Bongo Ducky, fancy lights, disco ball, etc.
Beth loves to swim and no one will ever go swimming with her.  I would if I lived here and this awesome pool would have been open.  It sits on he edge of the ocean.  She has yet to swim here.

On the walk to the pool.

Time to work!  Yes, this is a real job.

Mommy's Off To Work

Dear Max Baer Hanna,

Mommy has to go to work now.  You know I love you very much and I need you to be a good boy while I'm gone on the rock and roll tour.  Listen to Katy and Cici when they are watching you and make sure you take care of Daddy.  He is going to miss mommy too.  We will be talking on the computer so I will see you on Skype everyday.

When I am gone, do you think you can work on the following action items:
  • Getting yourself dressed in the morning in a timely manner
  • No whining
  • No more temper tantrums
  • Using your listening skills
  • Asking for a tissue when you have boogers
  • Going to sleep by yourself (big boy stuff)
I will have extra hugs and kisses for you when I get back.  In the meantime, be a brave boy!  There are no monsters or ghosts in the house so not to worry, you are safe and sound in your room.

Love,
Mama
Child Bribes (def.) If you smile really good, you can have a piece of candy - pose
Let me think about this...

Question of the day:  Do you like to swim?  yes, no, or I don't know?  Answer: Yes, I'm a fish

The award for being a "really good reader"
This is where the adventure begins, but actually started here 12 years ago when I met my husband at the EMP Skate Punk Festival.  His band was playing and I was skating.  The rest is history in the making.  This is my friend Beth "beef belly" McDaniel.  She is the most amazing person and I love her!  I just found out that she got engaged 6 months ago so a big congratulations to the happy couple!  I attribute the delay in news to the fact that she is an Insta-grammer and does not use Facebook.  I think I am finally going to break down and join Instagram.  I am already looking forward to coming back for the wedding on Orcas Island.  She was at my wedding and saved the day more than once.  A bartender showed up to work in rags and she snatched him off to the thrift store. She bought him a suit to wear so he wouldn't look like a hungover hobo. She also orchestrated duct tape name tags.  A necessity that I will be sure to pass on at her affair.  She is also known as Black Bean Beth which is funny because the first place she took me was to get some black bean dip.

Son of a Gun - Young Roadie

Little does this young gun understand what is about to ensue or the historic events leading up to this point.  As I am getting ready to embark on a 5 week tour managing the merchandise for Blondie and Devo, I can’t help but have anxiety about leaving my little family!  Truth is my son was born into this life and it will likely follow him for many years to come.  The first two months of my pregnancy with him I toured with the Sex Pistols and Blondie (different tours).  Last summer (at two) he came on a west coast tour with my husband’s band The US Bombs.  This time round he will stay home with lots of video chatting and a well-documented account from Mommy’s blog – Whip it to Shreds.  He might be three years old but his favorite card is the Ace of Spades and he knows how to rock out to it.

Seamus Unleashed

Devo, 'Don¹t Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Seamus Unleashed)'
Devo is about to release a new song about Mitt Romney strapping his family dog to the hood of their car on a 1983 road trip.  Keep in mind, this dog traveled up on the luggage racks for several states (12 hrs about 650 miles).  The dog had defecated liquid down the sides of the car, so naturally, they stopped at a gas station. What would any rational person do?  Hose down the mess and strap-em back on to finish the ride.  The show must go on?

This link has a great article about the new Devo song and you can listen to it. Crossing fingers it gets added to the set list.
